How we got here
Proxywise is the next chapter of Nicolaas’s work on governance analytics. He founded another startup nearly a decade ago to make governance data easier to work with; Proxywise applies that same mindset to proxy voting workflows.
Nicolaas and Alex first met at BCG in 2009. We’ve built products and run teams in different settings since then—and came back together around a simple point: applying a voting policy at scale is still too manual.
We’re not career stewardship operators, and this is why we’re lucky to be joined by advisors who have led proxy voting and stewardship at large institutions—and who keep us honest about what matters day to day.
Today we’re piloting with our first clients in live voting settings and iterating quickly based on real workflows.

Technical founder with 10+ years building web and data analytics products. Previously founded Penmon, a corporate governance startup. Started his career at BCG, where he focused on governance and organizational transformations. Holds a BSc from Wharton (UPenn) and an MBA from London Business School.
Alexander Kaltenböck
Co-Founder & CCO
18 years in strategy and commercial leadership across BCG and Hilti Group. Built AI-driven automation and pricing systems at scale for an $8B+ company. Deep expertise in go-to-market, B2B growth, and structured decision frameworks. Holds an MSc from the University of Vienna and Singapore Management University.
